Bishop Joe Caddy Visits the Torres Strait
Bishop Joe Caddy has made his first official visit to the Torres Strait, bringing a sense of excitement and blessings to the island communities! Upon arriving at Horn Island, he was warmly greeted by parishioners and took the opportunity to visit the local church before continuing his journey to Kirriri (Hammond Island). There, he met with local elders and students, and enjoyed a light lunch with the community. The visit’s highlight was a vibrant evening on Waiben (Thursday Island), where the community gathered for food and traditional dancing, and to formally welcome Bishop Joe. The following day, Bishop Caddy celebrated All Saints Mass and engaged in ecumenical discussions with other church leaders, deepening the spirit of unity and fellowship. The community eagerly anticipates the Bishop’s return, marking this first visit as a meaningful step in nurturing faith and connection across the Torres Strait.

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Kaurareg people, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our school is built, the first to meet, learn, and celebrate here. We honour their enduring custodianship and the care they continue to give to this place. We respect their history and stories, which continue to sustain and inspire all who call this place home. We turn to God, Creator of all, who gives us strength and wisdom, guiding us to discern and pursue a better way in all that we do.
