Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School is inclusive to all students and their families.
Our campuses on Waiben (Thursday Island) and Kirriri (Hammond Island) celebrate the culture of the Torres Straits people. We acknowledge the Kaurareg as the traditional custodians of these islands. We also acknowledge the communities of both islands and recognise and immerse our students in a learning environment that explicitly teaches about multiculturalism, represented by the families enrolled at our school.
By recognising and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and the diversity of all our students in a faith based, welcoming, caring, relaxed learning environment, our school promotes a sense of belonging.
Our school culture can also be described as a “Culture of Kindness” where everyone experiences a true sense of welcome, inclusion, acceptance, love and respect.
