Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School is inclusive to all students and their families. We welcome the diverse cultural background that creates a shared identity of our histories, our traditions, our faith; representative of our unique cultures.
Our campuses on Thursday Island and Hammond Island celebrate the culture of the Torres Straits people. We acknowledge the communities of both islands and recognise and immerse our students in a learning environment that explicitly teaches about multiculturalism, represented by the families enrolled at our school.
Through the development of quality relationships between child, teacher and parents, the uniqueness and giftedness of each student is appreciated and valued. Our school focuses on the holistic growth and development of each student.
By recognising and affirming Torres Strait Islander culture and the culture of all our students in a faith based, welcoming, caring, relaxed learning environment, our school environment promotes a sense of belonging and development spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally and academically.
