Physical Education
Organised games are a regular and important part of our school curriculum and every child is encouraged to participate in school sports. The school takes part in the District Athletics, Cross Country and our own Swimming and Athletic Carnival Days. Students also participate in sport trials for selection in the Torres District representative teams. We confidently anticipate parent support in encouraging students to take part as opportunities arise.
After school sports
These activities take place for ONE HOUR two afternoons a week, over seven weeks each term when funding is available and numbers are sufficient.
 Extra-curricular Opportunities
Students from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School are actively involved in the following extra-curricular activities, representing the school and the Torres Strait Islands: Hockey, Touch Football, AFL, AusKick, Basketball, Choir.
In the past, students have travelled to Cairns and state wide to Brisbane to participate with and perform for a broader audience.
Excursions and school camps are important learning and socialising experiences for the students in our school and are part of the school programme. Class teachers will advise parents and students when an extra curricula opportunity arises or when school camp organisation commences. Such advice will explain the nature of the activities, the time and venue involved, the materials required, transport arrangements, costs and clothing requirements. Since learning experiences obtained through camps are integrated into the school curriculum programme, students who do not attend may be disadvantaged, and this can be reflected in their understanding of knowledge and ability to describe an event or situation from personal experience.
Excursions form will be forwarded to parents at least two weeks in advance to enable parents to complete information to assist with organisation focused on providing a safe environment and excursion for each student, catering for their individual needs.
